Another Year Down

Happy Birthday to me, it's another year down but I'm not necessarily wiser. This was an uneventful birtday, but I guess that's normal once you get past 30.

3 of a kind

Why do things come in odd numbered packages here? For example, I went to buy some inexpensive wine glasses last night at the local hyper marche and they came in odd or large numbers. You could buy one, three, or large quantities like 10. Is this the smart way of accounting for breakage or is it just a weird French thing?

I don't need, nor do I have room for large quantities so I ended up buying the package of 3. I must say that it was almost an uncomfortable feeling having to buy "3". It definitly brings out my OCD tendencies. Hmm, I will probably go back and buy another package of 3 just to have an even number of wine glasses.

What else comes in odd packaging?

Hello, where am I?

My first week here we lived in 1) a bed and breakfast 2) surf hostel where the pipes broke and got a good wiff of the contents of said pipe, 3) spent two nights in a VW camper van next to the ocean so not bad at all, 4) found a short-term rental apartment to unload our stuff into for the time being. Now we are going to look for an apart l’annee without jobs! Should be interesting…
